Greatness starts with a goal
To celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the leading goal scorer for a men’s national team, we wanted to tell the world about the unique connection of Ronaldo and Madeira – the island he was born. This campaign was made for his Instagram account with over 600 million followers.
The film shows the proud island of Madeira and how the spirit of Cristiano Ronaldo is all-around. The film’s voiceover tells the story of his greatness via a mashup of former and current footballers like Rio Ferdinand or Marcus Rashford that have witnessed it first hand throughout his career.
But we also wanted to leave a message in his hometown. We refurbished his childhood court in the Funchal community of Madeira, Portugal, where he grew up in poverty. The pitch was set up at the local community center where Ronaldo spent his early childhood years.
For the kids who play on the pitch we welded a long lasting message into the net of the goal post. To inspire the next generation of young male and female footballers in Madeira.
The goal posts showed important stations of Ronaldos career. From his first time in England till the present. These 14 biggest steps in the carrier of Ronaldo were created with the Portuguese artist AKCorleone.
